The 49ers announced Friday that they have signed LB Ahmad Brooks to a two-year contract. A restricted free agent, Brooks had received an upgraded second-round tender from the team.

"We are very happy that Ahmad will be with us going forward," head coach Mike Singletary said. "He made positive strides last season and showed us what he is capable of. We expect Ahmad to continue to progress in the coming years."

Brooks, 25, excelled in 2009, setting a career high with six sacks and tying the franchise record for forced fumbles by a linebacker with four. He has played in 27 career games with seven starts, tallying 77 tackles, eight sacks and five forced fumbles.
