Cardinals OLB Joey Porter was arrested early Saturday in Bakersfield, Calif. on suspicion of driving under the influence and accused of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest, according to the Associated Press.

The California Highway Patrol says Porter, 33, was confronted by officers in a fast-food parking lot. He refused to provide his driver's license, then started to roll up his car window when police asked him to exit the vehicle. When an officer reached out to unlock the door, police say Porter slapped his hand away.

Eventually, Porter left the car and cooperated with the authorities. Both he and a passenger were arrested.

An 11-year veteran, Porter was released by the Dolphins earlier this month but recently signed a three-year contract with Arizona. He is a resident of Bakersfield.
