DE Jason Babin will join the Titans after the Eagles declined to match an offer sheet the restricted free agent signed with Tennessee on Wednesday, the Titans announced Friday. Babin reportedly signed a one-year, $1 million deal with Tennessee.

Babin, 29, notched 2½ sacks in 12 games with Philadelphia  in 2009. He will be a situational pass rusher for the Titans.

"Jason is one of those guys that has a knack of getting to the quarterback," Titans head coach Jeff Fisher told the club's official Web site. "He's not an every-down player, but he'll play a lot of snaps for us. With a real good offseason and working with (DL coach Jim) Washburn, I think he has a real good chance to get to the quarterback, which is important for us."

Babin has 17½ sacks in six NFL seasons. He was a first-round pick of the Texans in 2004. Ironically, the pick used to select Babin was once held by Tennessee, which struck a deal with Houston on the first day of the '04 draft. The Texans traded back into Round One to acquire Babin, whom they sought as a pass-rushing outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme.
