The Eagles and Seahawks swapped defensive ends Tuesday, with the Eagles landing Darryl Tapp and Chris Clemons heading to Seattle.

The Eagles also sweetened the pot by throwing in a fourth-round pick in 2010.

Tapp, a former second-rounder, has only 18 sacks in four pro seasons and his sack total has decreased each of the past two seasons. The restricted free agent signed his tender offer earlier today, so at the moment he’s only signed through the ’10 season.

“Darryl is a very intense football player and we’re happy to acquire him,” Eagles head coach Andy Reid said. “He plays very hard every snap. He’s smart, he’s a good person and he’ll fit very well into our defensive scheme.”

Clemons was a disappointment after signing with the Eagles from the Raiders two seasons ago, collecting only seven sacks in two seasons as a part-time defender. His biggest highlight in Philadelphia was a 73-yard fumble recovery in the season finale in 2008 against the Cowboys, a game that propelled the Eagles into the playoffs.
