The Redskins and RB Larry Johnson have come to an agreement on a three-year contract, according to various published reports.

Johnson was cut from the Chiefs last season and joined the Bengals, rushing for a combined 581 yards and a 3.3-yard average.

New Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, who has been less than supportive of RB Clinton Portis since taking the job, knows Johnson well from their AFC West days together.

Johnson likely will have a chance to start, either competing with Portis or taking his job if Portis is cut.
