The Rams have agreed to terms on a three-year deal with free-agent DT Fred Robbins, a key cog in the Giants’ defense during their 2007 run to the Super Bowl. A 10-year veteran who turns 33 later this month, the 6-4, 325-pound Robbins adds size and versatility to the Rams’ defensive line with his ability to play both the three-technique and nose tackle positions.
Robbins spent his first four NFL seasons with Minnesota before joining the Giants in 2004. Some of his best work came in ’07 and ’08 with the Giants under the direction of Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who at the time was the Giants’ defensive coordinator. Robbins has been burdened by a host of injuries beginning in the second half of ’08 and had only two sacks in ’09.
