Free-agent NT Jason Ferguson was suspended for the first eight games of the 2010 season, according to a report on Yahoo! Sports, after violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Ferguson's suspension is a steep one since he also had been suspended for violating NFL drug policy in 1999, having missed four games after an anabolic steroid showed up during a urine test.
He played for the Dolphins the past two seasons, though his ’09 season was cut short after nine games by a season-ending quadriceps injury. The Dolphins had not shown interest in re-signing the 35-year-old though they have not said whether they are willing to bring him back or not.
Ferguson played eight seasons with the Jets and three with the Cowboys before joining Miami in ’08.
