The Jaguars signed unrestricted free-agent WR-ST Kassim Osgood on Saturday, adding a proven special-teams player and a potential contributor to their WR corps.

Osgood, a seven-year veteran who had spent his entire NFL career in San Diego, signed a three-year contract valued at $6.675 million, with $2.975 million guaranteed, and possibly reaching a maximum of nearly $11 million with incentives, according to The Florida Times-Union.

Osgood is a three-time Pro Bowl selection as a special-teams gunner, having recorded 96 tackles in that capacity during his career. He has missed only four games in seven years.

However, it was Osgood's desire to play wide receiver that led him to Jacksonville. The Jaguars have been undermanned at the WR position in recent years, and they released veteran starter Torry Holt last month.

Osgood caught 28 passes for 586 yards and four touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Chargers, 2003-04, but he has only five receptions over the past five years.
