Reports say that the Lions have made yet another strong offseason move, signing Titans DE Kyle Vanden Bosch to a contract Friday morning.
The Lions also have signed WR Nate Burleson to a five-year deal and have agreed to trade for Browns DT Corey Williams.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz made a strong push to sign Vanden Bosch, arriving at his Nashville-area home the minute free agency opened this morning. He spoke with Vanden Bosch and his wife for several hours and reportedly agreed to a four-year deal reportedly worth around $26 million.
Vanden Bosch played for Schwartz for four seasons in Tennessee. Although Vanden Bosch slumped to three sacks last season, he had 12½- and 12-sack seasons under Schwartz in 2005 and ’07, respectively.
The Lions’ defensive front could look completely different next season. With Williams, Vanden Bosch and possibly the No. 2 pick in the draft — either Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy — the Lions could be much better up front.
