The Falcons will not be shopping for a new backup quarterback this offseason.

ESPN reports Atlanta re-signed QB Chris Redman to a two-year, $5.6 million deal.

Redman, 32, started two games for the Falcons last season after Matt Ryan sustained a toe injury. He nearly led the team to an upset win over the Saints in Week 14. New Orleans won the game, 26-23.

The eighth-year veteran is a serviceable backup and Atlanta did not have any good options on its roster to fall back on if Redman departed. The other backup quarterbacks for the Falcons are the inexperienced John Parker Wilson and D.J. Shockley.
