The Eagles announced Friday they have re-signed FB Leonard Weaver to a three-year contract. Weaver, 27, had been a restricted free agent.
“Leonard proved to be a versatile player for us last year from the fullback position,” head coach Andy Reid said. “He made plays both running and catching the football and was a reliable blocker. Plus, he is committed to donating time and energy in the community. Leonard is an All-Pro on and off the field. We are happy to have him back for the next three seasons.”
Weaver was a strong performer in Year One for Philly, rushing for a career-high 323 yards and earning his first Pro Bowl bid.
“Signing Leonard Weaver back was a big priority for us heading into the offseason and we are glad to get that accomplished today,” Eagles GM Howie Roseman said. “Leonard played very well for us last year as a runner, receiver and blocker. He was a Pro Bowl performer on and off the field.”
Weaver has appeared in 62 games (19 starts) in his five-year career, accumulating 1,336 yards from scrimmage (679 rushing, 687 receiving) and seven total touchdowns (three rushing, four receiving).
