The Colts have released backup QB Jim Sorgi, according to the Indianapolis Star, who got the news from Sorgi’s agent, Matt Brei. Sorgi was scheduled to receive a $275,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year, which began today. Sorgi, who backed up starter Peyton Manning the past six seasons, was due to earn $1.08 million in 2010. He went on injured reserve Dec. 9 with a shoulder condition.

The other quarterbacks on the Colts roster are Curtis Painter, a sixth-round draft pick in 2009, and Drew Willy, who spent most of last season on the practice squad.
