Multiple outlets are reporting that the Bears have reached a six-year agreement with high-profile free-agent DE Julius Peppers. The Bears, who earlier today fortified their RB and TE corps by signing free agents Brandon Manumaleuna and Chester Taylor, respectively, have announced a 5 p.m. CT press conference to presumably introduce a free-agent trifecta of major proportions. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Peppers could earn up to $40 million in the first three years of his deal with the Bears.
Peppers, considered the best player available in free agency this season, is a five-time Pro Bowler who has registered 81 career sacks in eight seasons. Bears starting DE Alex Brown said Thursday that he would gladly move to the left side to accommodate Peppers, who figures to start at right end.
