As expected, the Jets placed the highest possible tender on WR Braylon Edwards late Wednesday.
GM Mike Tannenbaum had made the team's plans for tendering Edwards clear months ago. A club would have to give up a first- and third-round pick to sign Edwards, who was acquired in a trade with the Browns in October.
Tannenbaum said this would be a very important offseason for Edwards and he emphasized how important it would be for Edwards to participate in all of the team's offseason activities. Edwards has yet to say whether he will attend those activities.
