As expected, the Cardinals released starting FS Antrel Rolle Thursday afternoon, in addition to tendering one-year qualifying contract offers to five restricted free agents — WR Steve Breaston, starting ORG Deuce Lutui, TE Ben Patrick, starting C Lyle Sendlein and DT Gabe Watson.
The Cardinals are expected to continue trying to work out a new long-term deal for Rolle, who joined the team in 2005 as its first-round selection (eighth overall) in the NFL draft out of the University of Miami. Rolle appeared in 68 regular-season games (59 starts) over the past five seasons and collected 396 tackles (295 solos), 12 interceptions, four forced fumbles and 1½ sacks. He also played in six postseason contests with the Cardinals, collecting 36 tackles (23 solos), one interception and one fumble recovery.
Breaston received a first-round tender, while each of the other four RFAs received a second-round tender.
The team has also extended offers to three exclusive-rights free agents — CB Michael Adams, FB Nehemiah Broughton and DE Jeremy Clark.
The team also announced that it has has re-signed DE Keilen Dykes, who was active for two games with the Cardinals in 2009 while also spending time on Arizona's practice squad.
