The Bengals released WR Laveranues Coles on Thursday. Coles, 32, caught 43 passes for 514 yards and five touchdowns in his one season with Cincinnati despite starting all 16 games.

Upgrading a stagnant passing attack figures to be an offseason priority for Cincinnati, which used a strong running game and defense to win the AFC North. The Bengals signed ex-Jaguars WR Matt Jones in February and could look to add further receiving help, whether at wideout or at tight end, in free agency or the draft.

Coles has caught 674 passes for 8,609 yards and 49 TDs in 10 NFL seasons. He has also played for the Jets (2000-02, 2005-08) and Redskins (2003-04).
