The Chiefs further bolstered their quarterback stable on Wednesday, signing free-agent Tyler Palko.

Entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2007, the Pitt product originally signed with the Saints, spending four games on their active roster that year. The 6-1, 215-pound QB then was picked up by the Steelers last season and was a member of their 53-man roster for two contests.

Palko likely will compete with Matt Gutierrez, a restricted free agent who was re-signed last week, for the Chiefs' No. 3 quarterback job. He also could be insurance in case the club is unable to retain RFA Brodie Croyle. QB Matt Cassel is entrenched as the starter.
