The Jaguars today confirmed the re-signing of WR Troy Williamson, a move that had been reported last month. Williamson would have become a restricted free agent Friday. The length and terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Williamson has played in 11 games, including three starts, with the Jaguars in two seasons. He earned a starting position in 2009, but was placed on injured reserve after tearing his labrum in Week Two against the Cardinals.

Williamson will compete with second-year WR Mike Thomas for the starting receiver spot opposite Mike Sims-Walker. The spot became available after the club announced the release of potential future Hall of Famer Torry Holt last month.

Williamson has 87 career receptions for 1,131 yards and four touchdowns since being drafted seventh overall by the Vikings in 2005.
