After agreeing to terms on a new contract with NT Casey Hampton, the Steelers announced Thursday that PK Jeff Reed has been designated as the team's franchise player.
Reed, a nine-year veteran, has played in 117 games during his NFL career. He ranks second on the Steelers' all-time scoring list with 855 points, converting 189-of-227 FG attempts (83.3 percent) and 288-of-292 point-after tries (98.6 percent).
He finished with 122 points in ’09, converting 27-of-31 FG attempts (87.1 percent) and all 41 point-after tries. Two of his FG misses were from 50 or more yards.
