Word that the Eagles might move on without OG Stacy Andrews unless he redoes his contract was quickly followed by Andrews saying that he would be willing to do a "minor" contract readjustment. From what we hear, anything minor has to include dramatically reducing Andrews' $7.6 million salary hit for next season and, more immediately, the $4.1 million roster bonus he's due in April. Head coach Andy Reid blamed Andrews' poor play on a slow-recovering ACL injury, but it begs this question: Why would Reid insert Andrews into the Week One starting lineup and not go back to him at season's end with an opening at guard? One reason is that Nick Cole was a more trusted player than Andrews, and the Eagles have to be sure that Andrews can contribute something this season if they are to bring him back at a more modest salary.
