PK Sebastian Janikowski, who would have become an unrestricted free agent March 5, will sign a four-year, $16 million contract to stay with the Raiders, according to an ESPN report.
Janikowski will become the highest-paid kicker in league history. The deal will apparently include $9 million guaranteed.
Janikowski is considered one of the league's elite kickers. He made 26 of his 29 field-goal attempts last season and his average miss was from 56 yards away. He connected on a 61-yard attempt in 2009, which is just two yards short of the league record for longest field goal made.
The Raiders made P Shane Lechler the highest-paid punter in league history in ’08 when he signed a four-year, $16 million contract.
