Bengals OT Andre Smith underwent foot surgery last week, the Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting.

Smith broke his left foot in September, two days after signing his rookie contract. After the foot healed, he was able to see spot duty in the Bengals' final seven games, including playoffs.

The surgery was performed mostly as a clean-up procedure to prevent a future break. It's expected to sideline Smith 10 weeks, meaning he'll miss much of the offseason conditioning program but should be ready to go when organized team activities begin in mid-May.

Smith is the favorite to win the Bengals' starting ORT job next season.
