DE Julius Peppers said he's unhappy with the way the Panthers have handled his contract situation and signing a long-term deal with the team is no longer what he wants most.
He made the comments Tuesday morning on Charlotte radio station WFNZ-AM. Peppers, a five-time Pro Bowler, said the team's lack of communication with him and his agent, Carl Carey, since the season ended "is kind of a turnoff."
Peppers played under the franchise tag last season, but he will become an unrestricted free agent on March 5 and Carolina is not expected to put the tag on him again. Doing so would require the team to offer him a one-year tender of about $20 million.
