Super secrecy has been a longtime staple of the Colts' organization. But team owner Jim Irsay had no problem telling the national media at this year's Super Bowl that the Colts plan to begin serious talks on a new deal for four-time MVP Peyton Manning that figures to be "the biggest in history." Said Irsay: "It's something that's going to get done." But how much money it will actually take to get something done on behalf of Manning, whose current deal expires after the 2010 season, remains open to speculation. A key factor could be what the Patriots decide to pay QB Tom Brady, whose current deal also expires after 2010. There is also the possibility Manning could offer the Colts a "home-team discount." Even if he does — which is something we hear his agent, Tom Condon, isn't likely to recommend — a $47-50 million signing bonus still seems likely, according to team insiders.
