Lions head coach Jim Schwartz told PFW last week that QB Matthew Stafford is healing well following arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in December. "He's coming along well," Schwartz said. "I talked to him (before the Senior Bowl), and he's making good progress. We don't expect any problems." Schwartz said Stafford showed him all he needed to know about his toughness through injuries and struggles his first season. Stafford missed six games last season and played hurt through several more with knee and shoulder ailments. His performance in the last-second win over the Browns, reentering the game after suffering the shoulder injury, proved that he can play through pain. "We knew he was tough before we drafted him," Schwartz said, "and we got to see it up close this season. He made a lot of strides (last season), and we think he's going to be special."

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue now ready for mailing and a third issue focusing on underclassmen to be published in the next few weeks. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
