Eagles likely will have McNabb back

There is mounting evidence that Donovan McNabb, who is heading into the final year of his contract, will return to the Eagles as the starting quarterback next season. McNabb reiterated last week that he was told by Andy Reid — just as Reid said to the media — that McNabb would be the starter next season. We hear there remains a remote chance that a trade could happen, but the guess is that the Eagles would need to be blown away by an offer to pull the trigger. This move would not be an indictment of Kevin Kolb, the perceived heir to McNabb's starting job. The Eagles have been happy with Kolb's progress, and they would have him ready to go as the starter beyond 2010 or if McNabb gets hurt. The interesting third party is Michael Vick. Although public reports indicate that Vick likely will be back next season, we hear that decision is by no means set in stone.
