Jets QB Mark Sanchez has decided to undergo surgery on his left knee, but he's expected to be ready for training camp, reports indicate.

The procedure will take place within the next 2-3 weeks and it will repair a ligament that holds the kneecap in place. His rehab is expected to take two months, so he will miss a portion of the OTAs and minicamps that are held in the coming months.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said last week that Sanchez would be prepared to participate well before training camp if he underwent surgery on the knee. The rookie quarterback first injured the knee during his junior season at USC and has worn a brace on it ever since. He also sprained the PCL in his right knee in December, but he will not need surgery to repair it.

The 23-year-old threw 12 TDs and 20 interceptions in 15 starts in 2009.
