The Buccaneers have hired former Bills offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to become their quarterbacks coach, according to multiple reports.

Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson became the Bucs' offensive coordinator 10 days before the start of last season when O-coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski was fired. Olson handled both duties in 2009, but will hand the quarterbacks over to Van Pelt, who played the position in the NFL from 1993-03 before becoming an assistant coach, for the ’10 campaign.

Van Pelt's task is to help Josh Freeman develop as he enters his second season. Former Bears quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton also interviewed for the Bucs' job before it went to Van Pelt.
