The Chiefs announced Monday that they have finalized their coaching staff for the 2010 season, hiring Bernie Parmalee, Emmitt Thomas and Otis Smith.

Named the tight ends coach, Parmalee joins offensive coordinator Charlie Weis in Kansas City after coaching under him for the past five seasons at Notre Dame. Parmalee previously spent three seasons as a coach with the Dolphins and played nine years in the NFL as a running back.

Thomas will take over as the defensive backs coach after spending the last eight seasons as the assistant head coach/secondary with the Falcons. He also has seven years of defensive coordinator experience with three different teams. A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Thomas spent 13 seasons as a cornerback for the Chiefs and holds numerous team records.

Finally, Smith was named as a defensive quality control coach. He was previously an assistant secondary coach with the Eagles in '08 and also played 13 years in the NFL as a cornerback, winning a Super Bowl title while with the Patriots.
