The Chiefs have officially let go of defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast and also announced other changes to their coaching staff late Thursday.

After recently hiring Romeo Crennel as defensive coordinator, Kansas City had hoped to reassign Pendergast, who held the position for one season with the team. However, the club ultimately decided to let him explore other options.

Richie Anderson has been named the wide receivers coach after joining the Chiefs' staff during the 2009 season. Anderson, who played fullback in the NFL for 13 seasons and spent time coaching with the Jets, replaces Dedric Ward, who was demoted during the '09 campaign.

The Chiefs also have hired Anthony Pleasant to be a defensive assistant. Pleasant played defensive end in the NFL for 14 years, earning two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots.

In addition, K.C. announced that Pat Perles will become an assistant offensive line coach after serving as a defensive quality control coach in '09. Finally, Bob Bicknell will not return to the staff after taking a job as tight ends coach with the Bills.
