The Texans have hired Gregg Knapp as their new QB coach, reuniting him with QB Matt Schaub.

Knapp, who was the Seahawks' offensive coordinator last season, worked in Atlanta as the O-coordinator from 2004-06 when Schaub played there as Michael Vick's backup, before the quarterback was traded to Houston in 2007.

"That's an addition that I'm very excited about, as I am about Rick Dennison's hire," Texans general manager Rick Smith said on Tuesday evening. "Both those guys have experience in our type of offense. Greg Knapp is a guy that comes from the same system, that has coordinator experience in this league, multiple times has worked with quarterbacks."

Houston hired Dennison as their new offensive coordinator Jan. 13. He and Knapp replace Kyle Shanahan, the Texans' former O-coordinator/QB coach, who left to join his father's coaching staff in Washington.
