The Ravens have hired former Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees as LB coach, according to a report on profootballtalk.com.
Pees, 60, was New England's defensive coordinator from 2006-09 and coached the Patriots' linebackers from 2004-05. With his Patriots contract expiring at the end of the '09 season, Pees elected to explore other opportunities.
Vic Fangio coached the Ravens' linebackers in 2009. He was the special assistant to the head coach / defense in Baltimore the previous season.
The Patriots allowed 320.2 yards per game this season, 11th-best in the NFL. The Ravens, like the Patriots, will employ a variety of looks on defense, mixing 3-4 with 4-3 looks. New England switched between the 3-4 and 4-3 fronts at times in 2009, primarily because of injuries in the front seven.
