Browns president Mike Holmgren recently vowed to refamiliarize himself with QB Brady Quinn after last studying the passer closely leading up to the 2007 NFL draft. Quinn, the second QB taken in that draft, has had his brief NFL career marked by injuries and inconsistency; a finger injury ended his 2008 season, and a foot injury (a Lisfranc sprain that will not require surgery, according to Holmgren) ended his ’09 season with two games left to play. In all, the Browns' new brain trust of Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert have just 12 Quinn starts to evaluate. It's widely expected the Browns will add a veteran quarterback to compete with Quinn or take the job outright, with Derek Anderson — whose performance has fallen off after a Pro Bowl season in '07 — perhaps the odd man out entering the final year of his contract. The Browns' third quarterback, Brett Ratliff, didn't play in 2009.
