The Panthers announced they have hired Tyke Tolbert to become their wide receivers coach Thursday.

Tolbert, who coached receivers for the Cardinals in a previous stop, has been the Bills' receiving coach for the past six seasons. He takes over for Richard Williamson, who resigned Jan. 18 after coaching in Carolina for more than 13 seasons.

"Tyke's experience both as a player and coach provide him with a sound knowledge of the wide receiver position," said head coach John Fox in a statement. "He is a highly regarded coach and we think he will make strong contribution to our offense."

Tolbert played receiver in college at LSU.
