Touchdown Jacksonville, a local civic group focused on reviving interest for the Jaguars, has started an initiative called Team Teal to sell season tickets for 2010. After losing 17,000 season-ticket holders last year, and being responsible for seven of the league's 22 regular-season blackouts, owner Wayne Weaver said that his franchise has to "work harder than everybody else" to fill the stadium. Team Teal rewards fans for buying season tickets with a multi-year commitment by giving fans the opportunity to become "team captains." Captains can recruit friends who buy tickets, earning the team points and making them eligible for rewards such as Pro Bowl and Super Bowl tickets. The way we hear it, sales are up compared to last January, and while season-ticket renewals won't go out until February, this is a step in the right direction. After not raising prices for the third year in a row, the Jaguars are doing everything in their power to gain fans in a small market.
