Where exactly Chan Gailey was on the Bills' list of head-coaching candidates is up for debate, but what is clear is that he was one of the few people in play for the job who fit their criteria almost exactly. From what we hear, GM Buddy Nix was dead set on finding an experienced coach with vast offensive knowledge who had a successful track record developing quarterbacks, something Gailey has done as both a head coach and coordinator in the NFL. Knowing how much help Buffalo needs on offense after it finished 30th in both passing and total yards, Gailey plans to have a hands-on approach in his first season, calling plays himself. "If you want to get it the way you believe it needs to be done from the start, then you need to do it (yourself)," he said at his introductory news conference. Perhaps Gailey's biggest challenge right away will be sorting out the club's messy QB situation and figuring out who will lead the offense in 2010.
