The Steelers signed LB Derrick Doggett, a special-teams ace with the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, on Tuesday.
The 6-foot, 210-pound Doggett notched 27 special-teams tackles for Winnipeg in 2009. He also notched nine tackles and one interception on defense. Doggett, 25, played collegiately at Oregon State.
Kickoff coverage was a major problem for the Steelers last season. The club fired special-teams coach Bob Ligashesky at season's end and could hire former 49ers special-teams coordinator Al Everest to replace him, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
