Less than one day after he resigned from the Broncos, the Dolphins have hired Mike Nolan as their defensive coordinator, according to a FOXSports.com report.

Nolan and Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels apparently mutually agreed to part ways on Monday, after Nolan oversaw a Denver defense that improved from 29th to seventh in the league in 2009.

Like the Broncos, the Dolphins run a 3-4 defense. Al Groh and Steelers LB coach Keith Butler both turned down the Miami job before Nolan accepted it.
