Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has turned down a request to interview for Buffalo's vacant head-coaching job.

The Bills received permission from the Jets on Monday to interview Schottenheimer, whose team is still alive in the playoffs, but after due consideration, he decided he would prefer to stay with the Jets.

"Do I want to be a head coach? Absolutely," Schottenheimer told The Associated Press. "I think it has to be the right time, and it has to be the right situation, but again, you can't put a price tag on happiness. I come to work every day excited. I come into meetings with the players energized. That's something that not every coach in this league has. I'm flattered that somebody wanted to talk to me, but it's more about what the Jets had to offer me."
