Raiders managing partner Al Davis scheduled a meeting with head coach Tom Cable on Thursday, and the two could sit down again on Friday to discuss Cable's future, according to reports.

There was talk that Davis would meet with Cable on Jan. 11 and fire him the same day, but the conversation was put off until Thursday.

Cable said he expected to return to coach the team in 2010 after the ’09 season came to an end. He may have hurt his chances of returning, though, when he hinted that QB JaMarcus Russell's poor play prevented the team from making the playoffs. Davis selected Russell with the first overall pick in ’07.
