As the Jets celebrate their playoff victory, a player who seemed to be on the verge of playing his way off the team a few weeks ago may be sticking around a bit longer. Observers say Jets FS Kerry Rhodes' play has improved markedly since he was removed from the starting lineup for the first time in his five-year career before a Nov. 29 game. Rhodes returned to the starting lineup two weeks after he was benched and he's played so well that it appears he most likely will not be cut in the offseason, even though he's due a $2 million roster bonus in March, sources say. A few weeks ago, it looked like the Jets and Rhodes would almost certainly go their separate ways after the season. The 27-year-old may have been humbled by head coach Rex Ryan's decision to demote him. Rhodes isn't the consistently hard-hitting striker Ryan idealizes, but he's been more physical of late.
