The first coaching-staff shake-up of head coach Mike Tomlin's three-year tenure in Pittsburgh occurred in the week after the Steelers completed a disappointing campaign, but the changes did not include offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. Special-teams coach Bob Ligashesky and OL coach Larry Zierlein were fired, and QB coach Ken Anderson informed Tomlin he would retire. However, Arians, who some suggested might be fired after the offense floundered in some key losses, will reportedly keep his job. The Steelers finished seventh in yards gained this season, but no AFC team allowed more sacks (50), and one of the club's most pressing issues continues to be how to better protect QB Ben Roethlisberger, who has been sacked at least 46 times in each of the last four seasons. At his season-ending press conference, Tomlin indicated that he would like to see Roethlisberger get hit less. "I'm looking to rectify that," he said two days before the firing of Zierlein was announced.
