There is a growing sense that LBs Antonio Pierce, Danny Clark and reserve Gerris Wilkinson all could be former Giants this offseason. The biggest name on the list clearly is Pierce, who was a strong leader for the defense for years and was one of the best in the game at anticipating plays before they happened. But a season-ending neck injury puts his health in serious question, and his play dropped off this season. The team has drafted Jonathan Goff, Bryan Kehl and Clint Sintim the past few years to compete for the position, and their time might be coming. Michael Boley appears to be a stalwart on the weak side if he can stay healthy, but the middle and strong-side spots remain open. Sintim is a better fit at the "Sam," given his size and rush ability, but he needs to become a complete linebacker to win the job. And the jury remains out on Goff, who replaced Pierce inside but failed to convince everyone he's ready to be handed the job. The draft and free agency could affect this position, too.
