The Saints will enter the playoffs without one of their starting defensive ends.
Charles Grant, who had 5½ sacks this season, has been placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a torn triceps, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He apparently sustained the injury in the second quarter of New Orleans' Week 17 loss to Carolina and suffered a similar injury last season, which kept him out of the final eight games of the year.
The Saints re-signed veteran Paul Spicer to add depth to the defensive line. Spicer spent the offseason with New Orleans, but he was released after the preseason.
