The Bengals placed DT Pat Sims on injured reserve Monday and signed CB Keiwan Ratliff, whom they drafted in 2004, to take his place on the roster.
Sims suffered a broken forearm in Sunday's loss to the Jets. The 6-2, 325-pound Sims played in all 16 games this season, starting eight, notching 34 tackles and a half a sack. While his loss hurts the Bengals' DT depth, the club could get a lift from the return of Domata Peko, who has missed the last five games with a knee injury.
Ratliff, who is in his sixth NFL season, could contribute in "sub" packages and on special teams. He played from 2004-06 and part of '07 with Cincinnati before being released. He has also played with Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.
