Although he is fighting through a painful foot injury, CB Antoine Winfield hasn't made excuses for his poor play the past two weeks, including a tough Monday-night game against the Bears in which he allowed several catches, including two touchdowns on which he was nowhere near making a play to prevent them. He also missed several tackles in the game. The Vikings need Winfield to return to form as the playoffs near, but it's not clear if his foot can get better in time. It appeared that he had trouble changing direction on Monday night, unable to plant and drive. He was in a bail technique more than once against Bears WR Devin Aromashodu and couldn't close on the ball when it was thrown in front of him. The Vikings might have to give Winfield more safety help over the top if this continues to be a problem; otherwise, the team's first playoff opponent is sure to go after him in the passing game.
