The Bengals have received contributions from several undrafted rookie free agents in their unlikely rise to the top of the AFC North. WR Quan Cosby has provided some playmaking punch on punt returns and has begun to play a bigger role in the offense, too. He snagged three passes for 47 yards — his first NFL catches — in the Week 15 loss at San Diego. On defense, S Tom Nelson, an Illinois State product, has played more as the season has progressed because of injuries at the position. He started in place of Chris Crocker in Week 15, and though he struggled at times, the Bengals are said to like his athleticism, physicality and overall potential, the way we hear it. Cincinnati has also received a lift on special teams from rookie LB Dan Skuta, who went undrafted out of Grand Valley State but has found a niche on the Bengals' special-teams coverage units. He has also played some on defense.
