Oklahoma Sooners DT Gerald McCoy, a fourth-year junior, will skip his senior season and declare for the 2010 NFL draft.
A two-time All-Big 12 selection, McCoy was voted an OU captain as a sophomore and is on track to graduate despite his decision to make the jump. He registered 31 tackles, 14½ for loss and five sacks this season for the Sooners.
McCoy might have been overshadowed this fall by Heisman finalist Ndamakong Suh of Nebraska, but his talents as a disruptive interior force have been known since his high school days. Praised for his character and maturity, McCoy compares favorably to the best DT prospects in the last 10 years and will come off the board early in Round One come April.
