Dolphins observers say DE Randy Starks has established himself as the team's top defensive performer this season. The sixth-year veteran had never made more than 4½ sacks in a season, but he had six by Week 12 this year and he's been dominant when matched up with a blocker one-on-one. Starks came to Miami in 2008 and played multiple spots on the defensive line in the team's 3-4 "D" after playing D-tackle for the Titans in a 4-3 system. It took him some time to adjust to playing end in the 3-4, and we hear his commitment to staying in good condition has been a key to his success in 2009. Sources in Miami say Starks runs after practice and does extra conditioning drills to improve his stamina, and the results have been rewarding. Starks has called this his "breakout" season and credited the coaching staff, specifically DL coach Kacy Rodgers, for helping him become a more consistent performer.
