A media member this week suggested to head coach Wade Phillips that the Cowboys can't be called "winners" because their history suggested they were not. Yet Phillips called his players "winners" and was caught off guard by the line of questioning. Despite Phillips' record of 3-6 in the month of December with the Cowboys, many players — namely LB Keith Brooking — took offense at the remarks. Brooking stood up for his coach, whom he spent time with in Atlanta as well, and said Phillips has done plenty for the team. And we hear that many other players took quiet offense at the media's questioning of their head coach, too. "He owns up to it every day in front of us," Brooking said. "Because (the media) might not perceive it as that means nothing, means nothing to me, means nothing to the football team. I'm there every day. ... (The media don't) see what goes on at every meeting and every practice, the sacrifices that we make, the accountability that Wade Phillips holds us to every day. ... I'll go to fight for that man until I hang my cleats up and I'm done playing football, because I have the utmost respect for him. Everything I've seen from my teammates and everything I've heard, they feel the same way, bottom line."
